John Denver was a superstar singer who touched millions through his songs of pop-folk and many of them based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born Henry John Deutschedorf in Roswell located in the state of New Mexico, fell in Love with Colorado. He settled in Aspen. Denver's famous anthems about Colorado are a source of inspiration for many to move to the state. There isn't another performer that embodies Colorado such as John Denver said G. Brown curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its the first member in 2011. He has become the personification of the state to everyone around the world. In my journeys, you come across someone on the opposite part of the globe, or someone who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm of Colorado and the first thing they say is"Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 hits after performing with small folk bands. It was co-written by and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff had Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the track, however Denver recognized that the song could become a smash hit when the song was first heard by him. The song was recorded just two weeks following that Washington D.C. performance.
