April Ross
April Ross is only one of only a handful of beach volleyball players to have won medals multiple times at an Olympics. Ross will compete in Tokyo for her 3rd Olympic gold medal along with Alix Klineman, a first time Olympian. Ross wants to achieve more than her first Olympic medal. In fact, at 39, this could be her last chance to do so. However, she is certain of taking top honors. If we play our best or even if we play well I feel like we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. This is also the result of luck. Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her parents and sister lived there. She was able to participate in many activities in Newport Harbor High School. Her prep athletic career included indoor volleyball along with basketball, running and track. While she did well at indoor volleyball but it was apparent that her skills were above average. In her own biography, during high school she was a volleyball player as an outside setter (middle blocker) as well as a the setter (outside blocker). She was awarded the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the year in 1999 due to her accomplishments. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her in volleyball. Ross and Klineman may have started working together in the year 2017, however Ross had already been a seasoned volleyball player before they teamed up. The American has been a major winner in events twice, with various partners. One of them has become an icon in the world of volleyball. From 2007 until 2013, she was a team together with Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Kessy was Ross's partner on the World Championships of 2009. They won a Silver Medal at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team as well as Kerri Jennings took home the gold. Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. They went on to compete for the bronze beach volleyball medal at Rio Olympics 2016. They were joined by Walsh Jennings. After high school and years before she hit the sand professionally, Ross balled out with the Trojans of USC as a collegiate. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was amazing. The year 2000 was her freshman year. earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of award and become an All-American. The Trojans could also get to the Final Four with her help. She endured a great personal loss in her sophomore, yet was capable of achieving the All-American distinction. During her final two seasons as a member of the Trojans team the team was led to victories by winning the national title in consecutive years. She was a great volleyball player and won the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the top female volleyball player in the NCAA. Ross who was a USC international relations student was a renowned volleyball player. Margie Ross was not able to see Ross become the highest beach volleyball level. Ross lost the breast cancer that she battled in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Her mother is still very dearly. Margie at the beach as well as in everyday life, continues to inspire her.
